| Chinese translations of The If Sieve and Mirror Maze |
[May. 11th, 2012|07:14 pm] |
Hey guys, psychen16 has just finished translating my Harry/Draco fics The If Sieve and Mirror Maze into Chinese.
I don't know whether there's anybody following my English-language journal to whom this is helpful, but I'm so delighted when somebody puts work into making something new out of one of my stories, and translation is an especially excellent gift to fandom, since it opens doors I never could. (Also, The If Sieve is my second-longest fic, so that's a tonne of work.) So, yeah, check them out if you read more Chinese than me ♥

[Apr. 19th, 2012|06:50 pm] |
Just FYI that I'm going to start posting fic to cest_what on dreamwidth, in the future.
I'll still link it here here here every time I post fic, so if you're only here for that, carry on. I'm experimenting with combining the dual regular/fic journals into one fannish journal, though, and that will be this DW, so if you're on DW and feel like reading my non-fic posts ... I guess wander over :)
Any future fic rec posts will go there, and probably won't be cross-posted here. |

| No Quiet Sleeper (John/Karkat) |
[Feb. 22nd, 2012|12:33 pm] |
Coding Homestuck fic is going to kill me. I've made all the body text Arial because that was the only way I could get this to work; I'm hoping that won't affect readability for anyone?
Anyway, this is some kind of Jade-and-John-on-the-meteor-with-the-others AU. With all of the thanks to blottingtheink for the wonderful beta ♥
Homestuck | John/Karkat | 3,900 words | PG-13 for language | at AO3
Summary:
CEB: i wish you didn't look so sad. PCG: I. WHAT. PCG: I DO NOT LOOK SAD, WHAT THE FUCK. PCG: I AM FUCKING UNCONSCIOUS. CEB: you do. you look really sad, dude.

| Homestuck Fic Recs |
[Jan. 19th, 2012|07:57 pm] |
Soooo I'm working with limited data, but apparently a few people read the Homestuck Persuasion Post? And are now caught up on the comic? (I mean, it took me weeks, shit is epic, but apparently some people are quicker than me.) So here's the follow-up spoilery-as-fuck rec list for you guys ♥ I've divided the fics into the act their canon comes from so that if you're partway through reading you can manage your spoiler-exposure. But it was arguably pointless because nearly all of them are Act 5 canon. Oh well! (Also, if you are cavalier about spoilers and want to read all the fic anyway, but get confused when stories start talking about kismeses and moirails, here's the wiki on romantic quadrants in troll society! You're welcome.) ( Fic ) ( Poetry ) ( Art )

| Fic rec: John Egbert and the Goblet of Sick Fires |
[Jan. 10th, 2012|07:29 pm] |
SO ON SERIOUS CONSIDERATION I've changed my mind. The fic you should read, if you're not sure about whether you want to read Homestuck yet (why would you be not sure, it's amazing), is this one Harry Potter crossover. It's a WIP, but whatever, the prologue functions as a story and is my favourite part anyway. Plus there are pictures, you guys, you can just go and, like. Glance at the pictures. And see if you can fail to be moved by their tiny little faces peering through the dark of the Forbidden Forest.
You guys it starts like this:
Your name is ARADIA MEGIDO and you are super psyched about the EXCAVATION you are about to carry out. You have been horns-deep in every relevant book you can get your prongs on for the last THREE WEEKS (even a couple from the RESTRICTED SECTION), and you are pretty sure you are on the edge of a breakthrough: all that remains is to dig an enormous hole in a place nobody else needed or wanted a hole to be.
(This post brought to you by my going back to reread this fic after linking it in an email, and getting so charmed all over again that my toes curled with joy.) |

| Vriska Serket Has All of the Irons in the Fire (A Homestuck Persuasion Post) |
[Jan. 6th, 2012|08:39 pm] |
Okay, so, firstly I'm going to say that I got home from holidays and instantly got knocked over by deathflu, and most of this was written while under the influence of that. That may turn out to be relevant to matters of ... coherence. And such.
But oh my god, you guys, there needs to be a Homestuck post in this journal. My heart can't even hold this much love. So on mature reflection (remember: sick! lightheaded!) I've decided that the best approach is to attempt some kind of fandom persuasion post.
Because, here is the thing, Homestuck fandom is pretty big, and active and enthusiastic and hella productive, but everyone there has apparently come from completely different parts of fandom to the corners I've moved in. I have found almost no one whose name I even recognise, let alone know. Which makes me think MAYBE PEOPLE OVER HERE DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT. MAYBE THEY NEED TO BE TOLD. You know?
NOTES: This is going to inevitably contain some spoilers. In Homestuck canon basically everything is a spoiler, every single fact functions as a reveal, including characters' names and appearances. Seriously, for the first 200 pages/panels we only know one character's name, and everybody else is only a chat handle on his screen.
THE PREMISE: Homestuck is an epic multimedia webcomic.
( It is the geekiest, most meta-tastic thing ever, utterly ridiculous and hilarious and self-conscious, EXCEPT ALSO it will break your heart and make you keysmash in overwhelmed emotion and pain and the kind of delight that fuels solar systems ) |
